Wednesday, December 2, 9:30-10:30 a.m. - Family Place Parent/Child Workshop. Parent Place Parent/Child Workshops are a five-week series for parents and caregivers of toddlers 12-36 months. Parents can play, read, and interact with their toddlers in a family-friendly setting, equipped with age-appropriate toys, books, games, etc. A different community resource specialist will be available at each session to talk informally with parents about their interests and concerns regarding their child's development. Participants are asked to attend all five workshop sessions.

Wednesday, December 2, 11 a.m.-12 noon - Together Time for Parents & Tots. Together Time is for parents and toddlers who have already participated in a previous Parent/Child Workshop, as well as other parents with tots, ages 1,2,and 3. held in our multipurpose room, parents can enjoy toys, puzzles, books, and an art activity and a closing circle time together, while sharing parenting experiences with each other.

Thursday, December 3, 6 p.m. - Screening of the Independent Film "The Drummer."
In the East, the drum is the king of all musical instruments. The intense sound of the drum can penetrate a man's body. The solemn beat of the drum can open a man's heart. The powerful vibration of the drum can awaken a man's soul. Sid, the rebellious son of Kwan, a controlling and savage triad boss in Hong Kong, has to flee to Taiwan upon enraging his father's adversary, a powerful tycoon and underground business leader. Hiding out in the mountains, Sid encounters a group of Zen drummers whose mesmerizing art, rigorous physical training, and austere way of life pique this hostile urban young man's interest and he requests to join the group. Although Sid despises his father, he is turning out to be a younger version of him: wild and defiant. Immersing in the world of the Zen drummers eventually converts him into a firm and focused young man. Sid's independence from the triad life and his father is profoundly challenged, however, when a twist of fate awaits him back home in Hong Kong and forces him to choose between loyalty to his family and his new found faith in himself. English subtitles. 115 minutes.

Tuesday, December 8, 4 p.m. - Kids Reading Tales to Tailwaggers. Enjoy reading to a dog? Children in grades 1-4 are invited to read a story to a KPET certified dog. The dogs and their handlers will be in the library ready to listen. Each child may choose stories on his or her reading level lasting for approximately 10-12 minutes of reading. On the sign-up sheet you can indicate if you prefer the first or second half hour slot.

Wednesday, December 9, 9:30-10 a.m. - Wednesdays With...Preschool Movie Time.
Each session we will choose a popular character like Thomas, Franklin or Winnie the Pooh, and watch a short movie about that character. The program includes a snack and some fun coloring pages each week. Ages 2-5 with caregiver.

Wednesday, December 9, 10:30-11:15 a.m. - Homeschoolers Book Discussion Group.
This group consists of a chapter book being read aloud to the group. We will stop periodically throughout the reading to discuss the book and ask comprehension questions. This is a great way to enhance your reading program and to give your children a chance to discuss books and learn from other children's viewpoints. Ages 6-12.

Thursday, December 10, 11 a.m. - Fun with Movement.
Come join us for a fun time of moving to music. We will be learning how to play some fun musical games as well as using our bodies, scarves and parachutes to move with various types
of music. Ages 3-6.

Tuesday, December 15, 6 p.m. - Screening of the Independent Film "Somers Town.
" Two teenagers, both newcomers to London, forge an unlikely friendship over the course of a hot summer. Tomo (Thomas Turgoose) is a runaway from Nottingham; Marek (Piotr Jagiello), a Polish immigrant, lives in the district of Somers Town, between King's Cross and Euston stations, where his dad is working on a new rail link. When Marke agrees to let homeless Tomo move into his room, unbeknownst to his father, the pair forms a strong bond, as they work odd jobs for an eccentric neighbor and compete for the attention of Maria, a beautiful young French waitress whom they are both infatuated with. But it's only a matter of time before Marek's dad discovers what's going on. 70 minutes.

Tuesday, December 15, 6 p.m. - Personal Career Planning: Getting From Here to There. This program helps people who are looking for a job define their personal career goals and aspirations. It also speaks to how jobseekers can use the services of the PA CareerLink of Lancaster County to move from where they are to where they want to be with their careers.

Thursday, December 17, 7 p.m. - Family Story Time. The entire family can participate by listening to stories, singing songs, making crafts and enjoying a snack.The theme of the story time will be announced on the sign-up calendar. (Stories and activities are planned for children 3-7, but older and younger children are also welcomed.) Ages 3-7.

Tuesday, December 22, 6 p.m. - Family Movie Night: Polar Express. When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that shows him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe. Based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg.

Tuesday, December 29 - Mystery Book Discussion Group. This month's selection is "The Queene's Christmas" by Karen Harper. "The Queene's Christmas" draws readers into the magnificent realm of Elizabeth Tudor and the magic of her Court at Yuletide, circa 1564. But in the intoxicating sixth novel of Karen Harper's celebrated Elizabeth I series, the Twelve Days of Christmas are murderously interrupted when the Dresser of the Queen's Privy Kitchen is found hanged and trussed like the peacock he'd been fashioning for the holiday feast. With foul play afoot in her Court, Elizabeth does her royal utmost to track down the poor man's killer while striving to salvage the joy of Christmas.
